The Fault in Our Stars ♡ Book Review

I’m jumping in the mainstream wagon!

I read this book three times now and I’m surprised that I still didn’t make a book review about it. Just a little warning about this book:

This book will make your heart expand and then a needle will poke it and it will explode, just saying.

Seriously, I’ve read it three times now and it still gets me. Anyways, let’s get into the review shall we?

the-fault-in-our-stars-by-john-green-extract-p1-normal

First Impression: The book cover is really simple, It wouldn’t catch my eye in a bookstore. I’m glad someone recommended it to me 🙂 There’s also other versions of the book cover, and this is also made into a movie, in which I’m sure everybody knows.

Author: The one and only soul mate crusher, John Green

Genre: Teen Fiction

Setting: Indiana, United States

Hannah’s Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Summary:

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has brought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. ~The Fault in Our Stars, John Green

Why I love this book:

I love this book so much because it shows that people that are sick are people too. They aren’t always in hospitals being miserable, they have life, they are just like us. They experience love and happiness just like we do. I also love Hazel and Augustus little pairing, they are both cancer patients with one having less chances to live and one being able to live long. I also love the plot twist that John Green added in the book, its clever, and sad at the same time. Find out yourself 😉

Despite of this book bringing you in a rollercoaster of emotions , this book is great. I would recommend on reading it. I’m pretty sure everybody has read The Fault in Our Stars by now, it was a big hit in 2014? 2013? I guess.

Also another thing to watch out for while reading this book is that the ENDING WILL BREAK YOUR HEART INTO TINY LITTLE PIECES. Okay? Okay. (Whaddup book reference!)

Don’t watch the movie before reading the book by the way, it ruins the thrill.

My favorite quote in the book:

I’m on a rollercoaster that only goes up, my friend.

My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.

That’s the thing about pain, it demands to be felt.

Where to buy this book:

  • Barns and Noble

Stargirl 🌟 A Book Review

Hello Beautiful Internet People!

It seems like every time I post here, It would always have me apologizing for not posting for a long period of time, I’m going to try and do something about that so I could keep my blog active because I really want to blog and all but I’m always busy, there are some days that I’m not busy but I would be too lazy to post something on my blog. I don’t even have anything to post anyway ahahaha ❤

Anyways, I’m going to stop rambling now, lets get on to the review!

I actually read this a whileeeee back but I just didn’t make a book review for it.

First Impression: The book cover is very simple, If it wasn’t a book that I have to read for school I wouldn’t pick it off the shelf and read it. I’m glad that it was a required novel because this book is amazing.

Author: Jerry Spinelli, he also wrote the book called Maniac Magee, I am just now realizing that ahaha.

Genre: Teen Fiction

Setting: Arizona, United States

My Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – 5/5 Stars

Summary:

Stargirl. She’s as magical as the desert sky. As strange as her pet rat. As mysterious as her own name. And she captures Leo Borlock’s heart with just one smile.

But when the students of Mica High turn on Stargirl for everything that makes her different, Leo urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal. In a celebration of nonconformity. Newberry Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity-and the inspiration of first love.

If someone ever asks me to become “normal” I would beat them 🙂

Why I love this book:

LEO AND STARGIRL IS SO CUTE I AM MELTING.

They are so cute together. Oh my gosh.

At first Leo thought she was a freak, just like the other kids in Mica High. People in the school thought she wasn’t “real” and that she’s only an actress, as quoted by Hillari Kimble, the school’s queen:

“She’s not real,” Hillari said. She was sneering. “She’s an actress. It’s a scam.” – Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

Hillari thinks Stargirl is a scam that the school principal made up to raise the school’s spirit, which is pretty funny, kids will make up stuff when they’re desperate to hide the actual truth, Stargirl is real, Leo knows.

Leo thinking about Stargirl:

“-Each night in bed I thought of her as the moonlight came through my window. I could have lowered my shade to make it darker and easier to sleep, but I never did. In that moonlit hour, I acquired a sense of otherness of things. I liked the feeling the moonlight gave me, as if it wasn’t the opposite of purred on my snow-white sheet like some dark cat come in the desert. It was during one of those nightmoon times that it came to me that Hillari Kimble was wrong. Stargirl was real.” -Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli.

Leo and his friend Kevin planned to have Stargirl in their show called Hot Seat (Its a show where students from Mica High interrogate students to expose them, something like that) Leo then changes his mind because he’s warming up to Stargirl and putting Stargirl on hot seat means trouble for her (You’ll see in the book) he’s starting to care about Stargirl and that’s how he develops feeling for her.

There are other cute parts about Leo and Stargirl but I should just stop rambling about how cute they are, I’ll let you read the book and see the cute parts yourself.

Besides Leo and Stargirl’s cute little pairing, what I love about this book is that it teaches you that popularity does not matter, it will not remain with you when you get off of high school, you cannot put that you were popular in high school in your job resume because popularity does not matter. Stargirl wanted to be popular and by doing that, she lost herself, she wanted to fit in and be popular with that she changed completely, she lost her unique-ness, she became like the other people, she was not herself. That teaches you the consequences of popularity, sure its a good thing to be known by everyone but it isn’t all that great, you become so busy in trying to be like the other kids that you end up losing yourself.

My favorite quote from the book:

“In our minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she flew.”

To wrap things up, I would like to say that this book is GREAT, READ IT. 😀 ❤

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before ♡ A Book Review

Hello beautiful internet people!

I have not posted in this blog for so long, I keep telling myself to post something but I end up procrastinating, I greatly apologize ❤ Anyways, as you can see by the title of this blog post, this is going to be another one of my many book reviews, I changed it up a bit, if you can tell. Let’s get started 🙂

to-all-the-boys-ive-loved-before-9781442426702_hr

First Impression: The book cover, this is one of the reasons why I grabbed this book in the store!

Author: Jenny Han

Genre: Contemporary

Setting: In an East Coast small town

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 5/5

Summary:

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her.

They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are the ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved-five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her love letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

I know what you’re probably thinking right now, “What kind of cheesy stuff is this?” But hear me out, I gave this book 5 stars for a reason 🙂

Why I love this book:

This book has lovable characters and the main character, Lara Jean is so adorable. She’s very naïve about things, it’s because she has a great, protective and strong-minded older sister named Margot. Another thing that I liked about this book is that it has diversity, the characters for example, Lara Jean Song-Covey is a Korean-American girl, I love that. Also it’s not that the character is Asian, diversity is more than that, diversity is the culture in the characters. Here’s a little snippet of Lara Jean and Lucas Krapf’s conversation, first they were talking about Lucas’s sexuality and then Lara Jean’s race:

“I just let people believe what they please. I don’t feel like it’s my responsibility to quantify myself for them. I mean, you get what I’m talking about. As a biracial person, I’m sure people are always asking you what race you are, right?”

I haven’t thought of it that way before, but yes yes yes! Lucas gets it.

“Exactly. It’s like, why do you need to know?”

“Exactly.

We smile at each other and I feel that wonderful sensation of being known by someone. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

I thought this little dialogue was very nice and very comforting to see in a Young Adult contemporary book. Here’s another way that Jenny Han shows diversity, it’s subtle and brilliant:

Peter brushes past me and starts taking off his sneakers. “You guys are a no-shoes house, right?”

“Yeah,” I say, surprised. –To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Let’s talk about Lara Jean’s love interest, Peter Kavinsky, the way he teases Lara Jean is so cute and they really just go together, forget about the other four boys Lara Jean used to like, Peter is the winner.

Did I mention that this book is a series? Well it is, so when you decide to buy and read this book, there’s another one that gives you more Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky, I haven’t read it yet but I’m sure it’s great. The book is called, P.S: I Still Love You.

To wrap things up, I would like to say that Jenny Han’s writing is so simple but there’s so much thought and heart into every single word in the book, and to me, that’s what makes this book a 5 in my eyes. I love it and the story is brilliant. I would happily lend the book to you to read if I can.

My favorite quote in the book:

It feels strange to have spent so much time wishing for something, for someone, and then one day, suddenly just stop. –To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Well that concludes my book review, if you’re interested on buying this book, here’s a link where you can get it:

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – Book Review

Hello beautiful internet people!

I read this book over the summer and I just found it right now, I re-read the first page and everything that happened in the book starts flowing back to me, I really forgot how great this book is. With that said, here I am sharing this book with you guys because that’s what I always do 🙂

missperegrine_334x518
The eerie looking book cover of the book

About the book:

Author: Ransom Riggs

Setting: Florida and a tiny island off the coast of Wales

Genre: Fiction

Is it a series?: Yes, it is a series

Summary:

When Jacob was little, his grandpa Portman would always tell him his made up stories about his life during the war, the monsters, the enchanted island, the levitating girl, and more. Grandpa Portman would show him photographs of his friends in the enchanted island, Jacob always wondered if they were actually real. After the mysterious death of his grandpa, Jacob decides to go to the tiny island in Wales in the summer to witness where his grandpa had lived and to fulfill his promise to him. There, Jacob discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar children. As he explores the  decaying bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear to him that Miss Peregrine’s children might have been dangerous, they were maybe quarantined on this island because of that, and for some deranged, and impossible reason, they might still be alive.

Favorite Quotes:

“We cling to our fairytales until the price for believing in them becomes too high.”

“I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was.”

Opinions:

This book is beautifully detailed and its suspenseful but not scary. The cover might have taken you a back but remember to never judge a book by its cover. I learned from my mistake, I almost didn’t buy this book because of it’s cover. My brained screamed “SCARY” when I was examining the book in the book store. I’m glad that I did give it a chance. The story is really cute (especially Jacob and Emma, ugh, too cute) but there are times where it gets really suspenseful that you literally sweat when you read it. Anyways, I couldn’t put the book down when I started reading it because it’s that good. It’s a little slow in the beginning but don’t skip it because it’s important (obviously). Another thing that I like about the book besides the plot is that there are these vintage photographs, they’re like eerie and it really sets the mood for the book.

Praise for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children:

“A tense , moving, and wondrously strange first novel. The photographs and text work together brilliantly to create an unforgettable story.” -John Green, author of the Fault in Our Stars.

Even John Green loves it, it’s that good 😉

Overall Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 5/5 Would recommend 🙂

The Fifth Wave – Book Review

VAS HAPPENIN’ people of the internet! I’m back with a new book review because I extremely love reading books and sharing it to other people 🙂

the-5th-wave-rick-yancey-book-cover
This is the book cover of the book, there is a different version of the book cover, the other version has the movie poster as the book cover 🙂

About the book:

Author: Rick Yancy

Setting: The story takes place in present day Ohio, United Sates

Characters: Cassiopeia ‘Cassie’ Sullivan, Cassie’s family, The Others (The Earth Invaders), and other minor characters.

Summary:

When extraterrestrial bodies visit Earth, everything in goes down in waves. In the 1st Wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th Wave, only one rule applies: Trust No One.

Favorite Quotes:

“I am the one not running, not staying, but facing.”

“This place cannot be heaven, it doesn’t have the right vibe.”

Opinions:

I never read any Alien Invasion books but I think this persuaded me to read more of these kinds of books. They’re really interesting to read ( a little confusing, but it’s fine) and it makes me think about what will happen if this really happened in real life. This is basically giving me life saving pointers of how to survive an Alien Invasion, thanks Rick Yancy, you’re a sweetheart. All jokes aside, I extremely like this book, I will definitely see the movie (Yep, they made a movie) and read the other two books in this series (YES! IT’S A SERIES!)

Overall Rating:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 5/5 Would recommend 🙂

Twilight: Book Review #3

Hello There!

I finish reading this book called Twilight, i never thought I would read this book because i have always hated the movie. Now I know to NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS MOVIE. I love this book so much and I’m looking forward to my trip to Barnes and Noble this weekend and I will definitely buy the second book 🙂

Anyways, on to the book review!

Twilight: Book Details

Author: Stephanie Meyer

Genre: Teen Fiction, Mythical Creatures

Main Characters:

Twilight Book Cover :)
Twilight Book Cover 🙂
  1. Bella Swan
  2. Edward Cullen
  3. Jacob Black

Other Characters:

  1. The rest of the Cullen family
  2. Bella’s family

Story Setting:

  1. Forks, Washington
  2. Phoenix, Arizona

Story Summary:

When Bella Swan moved to Forks, Washington, she met an unbelievably handsome guy named Edward Cullen. The Cullens (Emmett, Rosalie, Jasper, Alice, Edward) were the odd ones at school. They sat at their own table at lunch and never talked to anyone else except their own little family. Bella however is fixated on the fact that they were quiet and conservative. Edward befriends Bella the next day which leaves Bella thinking “Why?” After their first meeting, a couple of weeks later, Edward finds Bella in trouble while going out with her friends. Edward saves her and decides to go to dinner with Bella, sort of as a date. Bella then finds out that one, Edward was a vampire, second, any moment now he could kill her, and three, she was unconditionally in love with him.

Opinions:

I love this book, seriously. I’ve always hated the movie so that kind of made me hate the book even though I haven’t read it. The way this book balances out, stupid stuff, sappy love stuff, and action stuff, makes me appreciate the author so much. I also love this book because I think its like stupid funny, like in one of the scenes, Bella was having doubts that Edward was a vampire because of a story Jacob told her. When she goes home after her meeting with Jacob she literally searches up “Vampires” on her computer. That made me laugh so hard oh gosh. Anyways, I’m looking forward to reading the series, and maybe over the weekend I’m going to buy the second book so I could read it and do a review for you guys 🙂

Rating:

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 – 5/5, I freaking love this book.

Autumn Falls: Book Review 3

Well hello again!

If you’re new to my blog, welcome also if you love my blog and would want to stay up to date of my shenanigans, don’t be afraid to hit that follow button. ( No Pressure 🙂 )

I’m so sorry if I’m pestering you with all this book reviews but I really enjoy doing them, the idea of reading a book, liking it, and sharing it to other people makes me so happy! I love sharing me thoughts about what I recently read, I just love hearing from my friends that they read the book I recommended to them and that they loved it very much. I hope that as I write these book reviews you take an interest to them and actually read them 🙂 If you did read the books that I wrote a review on, feel free to write your thoughts in the comments below!

Okay I should stop talking too much.. Anyways! On to the review! ♥

Book Details:

The book cover <3
The book cover ❤

Author: Bella Thorne

Genre: Teen Fiction

Main Characters:

  • Autumn Falls

Story Setting:

  • Stillwater, Florida

Story Summary: (Don’t worry, it’s spoiler free!)

Autumn Falls a typical teen receives a magical journal from her Grandma Eddy, the journal belonged to her dad who recently passed away from a car accident. As Autumn vents her feelings in the journal, her wildest wishes come true. Can the journal solve her problems or is it just crazy coincidence?

Opinions:

This book is alright. Bella is an actress and not a writer, I appreciate her trying but its just not working out. I’m not bashing Bella, I’m just being honest. The plot is that typical “Girl meets Boy and girl falls in love, but boy’s crazy friend is also in love with boy which happens to be the queen bee of the school. Crazy girl then ruins our protagonist’s life for liking boy” I thought the plot was unique because of the wish granting journal thing but no, it is not. I found some mistakes in the novel but I’m not bothered by it, I know that Bella is new to this “writing a book” thing. Autumn Falls, this book’s protagonist, oh my goodness, she made terrible decisions throughout the course of book, at some point while I was reading the novel, I wanted to throw the book out the window, but I couldn’t put it down. It was some what good. Anyways, this book is okay-ish, I’m not really pleased but it’s fine 🙂

If you still wish to read this book after reading all of what I said, feel free to order the book here ♥

http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/autumn-falls-bella-thorne/1117201786?ean=9780385744331

🌟🌟🌟 – 3/5: This book is okay, but still read it, who knows, maybe you’ll like it! ❤

Girl Online: Book Review 2

Well hello there! Welcome to another book review, since the other one was very successful, I’ve decided to make another one! Enjoy 💗

That's the book and the person holding it is the beautiful Zoe Sugg 💖.
That’s the book and the person holding it is the beautiful Zoe Sugg 💖.

About the Book:

This book is by Zoe Sugg, she is best known as Zoella because of her YouTube channel also called Zoella. Zoella is a British YouTuber, she debuted her book Girl Online on November 25, 2014. This is the first book in her series, the second book will be released on October 20, 2015. I will obviously do a book review about it!

P.S: Doesn’t the book cover look so pretty?

Characters

  1. Penny Porter
  2. Noah Flynn

Story Setting:

  1. Brighton, United Kingdom
  2. New York City, United States

Summary:

Penny Porter, a sixteen year old girl from Brighton, UK decided to anonymously write about her life and vent her feelings in her blog, Girl Online. She tried writing her feeling down in several journals like her dad told her, but it just wasn’t working. When her bestfriend Elliot tells her to make a blog, she listens and started to blog about her life anonymously under the alias Girl Online.

When her mom was hired to plan a wedding in New York, her family along with her bestfriend flies there and little does Penny know her life was about to turn upside down.

Penny meets a musician Noah Flynn whom she befriends. When they were sent by Noah’s grandmother to go pickup the head dress for the bride in a vintage store, Noah and Penny get to know each other a little bit more.

Penny, of course, blogs about “Brooklyn Boy” in her blog. Penny’s blog begins to gain more and more attention as she continues to blog about Noah. Little does Penny know, she was blogging about the famous American musician, Noah Flynn. (Of course she doesn’t know, she doesn’t live in the US). Slowly, Penny begins to be very fond of Noah. As she continues to blog about Noah, her life and how people treat her online and offline, begins to change bit by bit.

Favorite Quotes:

“Every time you post something online, you have a choice.
You can either make it something that adds to the happiness levels in the world—or you can make it something that takes it away.”

“I wondered if sometimes our friendships are a bit like clothes and when they start feeling uncomfortable it’s not because we’ve done anything wrong. It just means that we’ve outgrown them.”

My Opinions:

I really like this book so much, it just teaches people that you can’t post everything in the internet, even if you’re anonymous because eventually people will find out and things can spiral out of control. I find this book so relatable because I own a blog and I have to be careful of what I post because sometimes I can say something here online and it can be taken out of context because you have no way of knowing in what tone of voice I’m using it. The internet takes away the emotion that you put in your words and because of it people can draw bad or maybe good conclusions about it. Overall, I recommend this book because its really good, the author puts problems teens face online and its just so relatable.

If you wish to buy this book, here’s a link!
